General Microbiology Laboratory Summer 2009

This semester you are required to have the following for lab:

• A NEW laboratory manual.

• The following lab supplies (by the start of the second lab session):

  • Glass slides and coverslips

  • One depression slide

  • Lens paper

  • Wax marking pencil

  • Pressure sensitive tape (and a pen that will write on it).

• Failure to have these items in lab will result in a 5 point deduction each time.

• A lab coat, apron, or scrubs are recommended but not required for summer.

Laboratory Grades:

• Your lab points are averaged in with your lecture points to determine your final grade in the course.

• Lab points are as follows:

  Description	Points
  Group Project and Report (Hand Washing)	50
  Group Project and Report 2 (Phenol Coefficients)	50
  Unknown Project (written report)	100
  Staphylococcal Carrier Project (written report)	100
  Laboratory Quiz	50
  Total =	350
